One month after closing $15 million Series B Funding Round, Polish startup Brainly surprises with another big news – an acquisition of their biggest US competitior, OpenStudy.

By acquiring OpenStudy, Brainly consistently continues its vision to inspire students around the world to help in solving school problems by sharing knowledge online. The funds obtained from the South African Naspers fund, Brainly be spent on further development of the product. Naspers also supports the global development of the Polish startup and effectively strengthens its position in the US market.

And it seems that they are helping pretty well as just one month after the round B announcement Brainly acquires their biggest competitor in US for undisclosed amount. Existing Brainly community will be extended to students from OpenStudy, both platforms will continue to operate under separate names and use of independent websites and mobile applications. At the same time they will share the knowledge base to improve the process of obtaining information for students on both platforms.

Open Study was founded by two professors from Emory University and Georgia Tech – Preetha and Ashwin Ram. The two founders not ceased, however, working in the field of science and education. Ashwin Ram, co-founder and privately Preetha’s husband, has just started working with Amazon on the project Alexa AI, where he will work on artificial intelligence.
