Design Terminal opens applications for top mentoring program in Budapest

Startups from around the world now have the opportunity to flock to Hungary and receive mentoring from the best.

Budapest-based Design Terminal opened its mentoring program yesterday, which gives startups with a social impact focus a three-month business development.

Since 2014, Design Terminal, which focuses heavily on incubation, has provided startups with ways to improve their business models with the program. As part of it, startups will learn from the best – including the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock.

The accelerator aims to help early-stage social impact startups focusing on sports and healthcare, working and learning, mobility and urban development.

Local and international professionals including Gergely Hodicska from IMB Budapest Lab, media expert Zoltán Várdy, and Deutsche Bank innovation guru Zsófia Pulay, will all provide mentorship.

And former mentees include Route4U, a company that aids the commute of wheelchair users; Platio, that develops pavement generating energy; and GyermekSOS, which eases emergency healthcare. The talent management program, which was awarded by the European Commission in 2014, is supported by local and international companies as well as by the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary.

Last year, the program was so popular, a third of applications came from abroad – including as far as Chile and India.

Applications are open here until February 4, 2018.
