The Global Entrepreneurship Community (GEC) Summit 2017 kicked off this week, with 150sec co-founder Adrian Pica speaking at the event.
Launched at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Tuesday, the two-day GEC Summit concluded yesterday. Ecosystem influencers, startup communities and industry leaders have travelled across the world to speak in Malaysia for the GEC Summit and hope to solve “real problems and chart the way forward for entrepreneurs.”
Organised by the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre and initiated by the Ministry of Finance in Malaysia in collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia and Ministry of Higher Education, the event gave entrepreneurs around the globe ideas to solve cross-border challenges.
150sec co-founder Adrian Pica was at the event to give one of the five masterclasses. Adrian’s masterclass was on the ‘first steps in product management’ and he spoke about the importance of a product manager in a startup and how the role brings UX, tech and business functions together.
Other hot topics at the event included whether AI is a blessing or a curse, in an thought-provoking talk by futurist and researcher Sophie Hackford; how to unlock the potential of blockchain by Julian Hosp; and words from world renowned physicist Dr Michio Kaku about digital immortality in his keynote speech.
Some of the other keynote speakers at the event include Professor Renée Mauborgne, the co-director of the INSEAD Blue Ocean Strategy Institute, chief executive officer of Founders Space, Steven Hoffman, Ashran Dato’ Ghazi, the chief executive officer for the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre, and director of research at EADA Business School in Barcelona, Boyd Cohen.
Some 13,000 people gathered at the event and entrepreneurs had the chance to listen to over 20 stimulating keynotes and panel discussions, participate in 100 labs across 15 themes set around an un-conference format, receive mentoring from notable entrepreneurs, participate in over 10 entrepreneurship Masterclasses and visit more than 200 exhibition booths.
